Fanreports
Roger Atkins
This was the best concert I had ever witnessed - then and now.
Little Feat - Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Streetwalkers etc..
The first concert ( I think ) to use lasers - shot from the floodlight towers at mirrors around the stadium.
And then The OO!...
Moon was awesome - scary to witness even from 50 yards from the stage. Manic, mad, and on top of the toppermost form. Oh, and it was loud ... very very loud...Guniess Book of Records loud.
Townsend was windmilling like crazy, Daltrey was looping the mike like a circus performer, and The Ox just watched it all and smiled (no, he really did ). The landing lights at the finale were like glimpsing the brightness of heaven - such to a pimply faced 16 year old that had just been energised for the next 3 decades with a spectacle that unless you were there could never be truly explained!
Zeppelin, Floyd, Yes, McCartney, Gallagher, Queen - all acts I have witnessed and enjoyed - but nothing can ever rival that day in South London.
